Action World

Kia ora. On Tuesday 3 December’ Paihia School went to Action World. Action World is a place you go to have fun with your friends and family and more. Action World has a water slide, fighting ring, climbing wall and a tightrope. I was so nervous because it was my first time being there. I didn't know what it would feel like if I fell down but luckily we had a lady to tell us what to do and how to land. My favorite part of going to Action World was the fighting ring because it was fun when you fall down. What I can do better next time is listen more carefully to the lady who was talking to us.

Camp

Kia ora. On the 11 of november we went to Wellington I am going to be talking about Thursday. On Thursday we went back down to the National library to see the real Treaty of Waitangi we weren’t able to see the real Treaty on wednesday but we got to see it on Thursday. About 30 minutes later we went to the westpac stadium. We met a man called Dave he showed us around the westpac stadium the locker rooms and the field but we weren’t allowed to go onto the field. The next activity we did was the weta workshop we had some people show us around and talk to us about some of the statues and characters. We learnt a lot about how to make things look heavy and real. We even got to look at some amazing swords and feel some of the examples of the characters they were creating. On our last activity we went to Capital E. Capital E is a place where you can go to film a movie or a tv show. We chose to film a tv show. Our tv show was called Eye On The Hive it was about the prime minister banning the internet. We all got rolls to play or be something. For The Eye On The Hive my roll was the location manager.

What do you think about my writing ?

Kia ora. This week in Te Ngahere we had an e asttle test. For this e asttle test we were writing about a Special place in our community. What I chose to write about was the the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Here is my writing.

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is a special place because in 1840 the first Waitangi Treaty was signed. That’s why there is a flagstaff there because that’s where the Treaty was signed.

Do you have a community place where your family can go to find out more about you town? For many families in Paihia it is the Waitangi Treaty Grounds because you get to know more about your town and more about the Waitangi treaty.

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is special to the Paihia community because in 1840 the first treaty was signed in waitangi and the meeting house in the Waitangi treaty grounds was built on 1940 to mark 100 years since the treaty was signed. The same is true for Ngatokimatawhaorua the waka.

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is used to keep history and to help us kids learn about the treaty.

Why the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is there because the first treaty was signed there. We also want people to learn about the Waitangi Treaty Grounds so there is history about it.What I think I did well on this piece of writing was trying to not use I me we. What I can do better next time is find more information about the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

What do you think I can do better next time? Comment down below

What is the one thing I need to change.

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere we have been doing writing. For our writing this week we were writing about why the Paiha School pump track is special to our community. Our focus is passive voice and present tense. If you do not know what passive voice and present tense are I can explain it to you. Passive voice is not using I, me we. Here is an example. Rocks are like the bones of the earth, and water represents life. As you can see I am not using I me we. present tense is something that is present now. Here is a example for present tense Some of the descents of the early Moriori still live on rekohu. That sentence is present because of the word live. If you want to give me feedback about my writing comment down below. Here is my writing .

My writing:

What I am writing about is the paihia school pump track
Do you have a special place were you and your family can go and have fun?. For many families it is the Paihia School pump track. The pump track at paihia School is special because it’s free for anyone who comes here and it is the only safe pump track in paihia for the little kids. The paihia school pump is special to the paihia community because keep us nice and fit, it is safe for all of the little kids like my sister and it .The paiha school pump track is a community pump track it is for anyone who comes here and it is opened any time to anyone.

The best work I've ever done

Kia ora. In Te ngahere we have been doing this activity called the Steam challenge. For this Steam challenge we were making a two sheet newspaper tower. We were learning how to make a free standing paper tower with limited equipment. We were doing this Steam challenge because we wanted to see who could make the tallest tower with two sheet of newspaper and 30 cm of tape. What we had to do first was get into groups of two or three. I was with Zhynaliyah. Once we finished getting into our group and we had 20 minutes to build our paper tower. What we did first was figure out how we were going to have our tower. Next It was time to put our tower together we only had one minute and 30 seconds left but we finished just on time. Me and Zhynaliyah had the tallest tower it 118cm. What we learnt about this paper tower challenge was how to make a paper tower out of two sheets of newspaper and 30 cm of tape. What work well for my group was listening to all of our ideas, not one person's idea. What was hard for our group was Trying to make the paper because it wouldn't stand. What we did well was Working as a team and listening to all of our ideas. What could we do differently next time is make the tower stand properly.

How to keep safe when you swim

Kia ora, this week in Te Ngahere we had a swim safe lesson with Whaea Tracy. We were learning about the five rules to prepare yourself, in case you find yourself in danger. The five rules are; wear a lifejacket, YOUR safety first, tell somebody what time you’re going to be back, always have a waterproof phone or something for an emergency, check the weather before you go out and always make sure you have flares with you. Whaea Tracy said that you might not go on a boat now but there is a day you most likely will so always make sure you do this before you go out on a boat,.It could save your life or someone else’s.

lesson about how to do a blog post

Kia ora. In Te ngahere we have been learning how to do a quality blog post. We were learning about this because when we go to post on our blogs we want people to read our blog post that's why we are learning about this. We learnt that we have to have a catchy title because we want people to read our blog post and if we have a catchy title it sounds like we have a interesting blog post. Another thing we learnt is Introduction.Introduction Is importance because you want your audience reading your blog post. What I will do is say what I am learning and make my blog post more interesting and even make a DLO about my what I learning. Here is my DLO What do you think I can Improve on next time I do this?

Movie planing

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere we have been planning to make movies. We are making movies because Te Ngahere is entering the Northland movie competition. Once we found out that we were making movies we had to get into three or two groups my group is Angela and kaitlin our movie is about bullying. We were going to do a movie about a fishing trip but we didn't want to. Once we finished getting our groups together we had to write a script for our movie. Our script was 4 pages long. When we finished writing our script we had to figure out what camera shots we are using. Next we were on to filming. What I think our group can do better is work together as a group. What I think we did well was trying to work as a group.

Reusing and attributing images

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere We have been learning about reusing and attributing images. We were learning about this because we don't want to break copyright. We want to be safe and smart. This is important to learn so we don't get put in prison because we used someones image. Once I finished learning about reusing and attributing images Te Ngahere

teachers made a slideshow for us to find images that are ok to use. My favorite part about this was finding out how to use images that are ok to use.

What you do to find out that the image is ok to use.

You click on the photo

You scroll down to find your licence

If there is no licence that means you can't use the photo.

What I can do better is not to use images that I can't use. Here is the link to my slideshow link.

Kia ora. Last week Wednesday we had a Duffy assembly. We had this lady come in to talk to us about books. Her name was Rebecca Brothers. Rebecca was telling us about her life how she became a swimmer for New Zealand and competed in the Olympic games. As Rebecca got older she became a police officer. Rebecca was also telling us what she likes to do in her spare time. She told us she liked to run sometimes and read to her three kids. Rebecca also told us why she loves books. Rebecca loves book because when she went to University she had to read so many book she fell in love with them. After she introduced herself to us she read us one of her favorite books. What I think I could to better is to read more book for my education like Rebecca did.

Character Dimensions

Kia ora bloggers. In Te Ngahere we have been learning about character dimensions. We were learning about dimensions to help us improve our reading and writing. Dimensions are main parts of the story. There is Dimension 1 Dimension Two and Dimension three. We have been doing this thing called ‘T-shaped Literacy.’ We had to read 3 or 4 stories and find the dimensions. Dimension 1 is anything you can see; all the things on the surface. That means what the person looks like ,what you can see on the ground etc. Dimension 2 is backstory; fears, dreams and weaknesses. That is what are the person’s fears the person's dreams and weaknesses and backstory. Backstory means something about the person we don't know about them. And the last dimension 3 who they really are. Their choices /decisions, needs wants, desires. That is what they want what they do and what they will die for. And that is all of the dimension here is the link to my DLO about character dimensions. DLO.

Energise

Kia ora bloggers In Te Ngahere we have been learning about what drinks are good for you and bad for you. We had this lady come in from Energise her name is Whaea Gina. She was showing us what drinks are bad for us and good for us. We learnt that a can of coke has ten teaspoons of sugar in it and we also found out that the E2 drinks have more then ten teaspoons of sugar than the coke. She told us that we should only drink coke once a year because its not good for our heart. What I think I can do better is to not drink coke because it is bad for my diet. What I think I did well was not having sugar all the time.

My writing

Kia ora bloggers In Te Ngahere we have been doing writing. We were learning to use words to create powerful images and emotional responses for our audience. My focus was to use lots of ideas that connect to the topic and each idea is supported by extra information, detail or facts that explain my thinking elaboration. What I think was easy to do was use word to create a powerful images. What I think I can do better is use words to describe what the person looks like.

This is a shared writing we had to go and turn it into our own words. here is my writing Pigeon Impossible.

Quickly gazing at my watch, I can't be late, I can’t be seen, I must be on time. SCREECH!!!! The noise of car tyres screeching. I must be more careful! Getting run over by a car is not on my to do list today.

I can’t trust anybody. I look around suspiciously to see if anyone was following me I almost walked into a tree thats not on my to do list as well.

I walk past I grab the briefcase and find somewhere to sit. I take a big bite out of my donut and open the briefcase I look at pigeon, the pigeon looks, at me.

I break, a tiny bit of my donut, then I throw, it. The pigeon comes closer then I move back squark squark squark!!! The pigeon said

The pigeon jumps in the briefcase, I run, after the briefcase. BOOM of into the air, goes the missile, I start to feel nervous, all of my anger, is coming out and I don’t want that to happen. Out of know were the briefcase start to fly I jump on top Whoosh here we go. I get my donut I give it to the pigeon and I jump off the briefcase.

Whoosh BOOM I walk away like nothing even happened.

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere we have been planning for our science fair. We were learning how to carry out a scientific investigation. We had to get into a group of two or three and start planning what we were going to be doing I was with Isabella and Mikaila. Isabella, Mikaila and I are doing ‘What food is the best to catch rats?’ We didn't start straight away because we had to make a plan so we knew what we were going to be doing when we put it on our presentation board. After that we made a slide for our presentation board. It was the same as doing our plan but it was a slide. Next we had to print everything out and put it on our board. At last we were finished. The hardest part for our group was getting along and doing the method but at the end of the day my favorite part was learning how to carry out a scientific investigation.

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the scientific method we were learning what the scientific method is and what it does. We had to create a google drawing to make a infographic about the scientific method. Before that I had to read the method then I created the google drawing. The method means ask a question, gathering information research, make a hypothesis, experiment and test your hypothesis, analyze your test results then present a conclusion.
Here is my infographic

Kia ora, on Friday Paihia Primary School had a kids can fundraiser. We played sports like big ball soccer, gumboot throw, relays, dodgeball and other games. There was a group of people called PAL leaders who ran the sports, I was one of them Breeze and I were running the gumboot throw, it was awesome. My favorite part of running the gumboot throw was being there to help the juniors. What I can improve on is try to get along with some of the juniors because some of them don't listen.

In Te Ngahere we have been doing this marble challenge. We had to get into two or three groups my group is Missy, and Cheyenne. We made our ramp with our class dustpan and Missy’s maths book. We had points if your marble gets within 1.1o cm you get 5 points 3 points if the marbles stops within 5.5 cm

2 points if the marbles stops within 11 cm

1 point if the marbles stops within 22 cm.

We marked a line on the maths book where we wanted the marble to start.

Then we rolled the marble. Our first roll was 96 cm but we weren't happy so we change the height of the maths book then our second roll was 112 cm but we weren't happy with it so we keep changing the height until we got to 110 cm.

What I think we can do better next time is not change things around so much because sometimes you get there and sometime you don't. What we did good was work together as a team.

On Wednesday the year 7 & 8s went to Moerewa School for Technology. The year 7s were cooking and the year 8s were finishing off their projects. This time we were making two things cottage pie and apple pie . First we had to get in to groups of two or one .I was with Anyah. Anyah and I had decided I would cook the cottage pie and she would make the apple pie. My first step was to prepare the potatoes by peeling them with a potato peeler. Then I placed them in a pot of water and waited for them to boil, While I was waiting for my potatoes I moved on to my next step by preparing my onions, garlic and tomatoes by chopping them. Then I moved on to grating my cheese. By the time this was all done my potatoes were ready to be mashed. After I had mashed my potatoes I moved on to my mince and bacon. I chopped my bacon into small pieces, then I mixed the mince and bacon together. After all of that was done I fried my meat onions’ garlic’ and tomatoes together in a frying pan then i added tomato paste to the pan as well. My next step was to move all the food from the frying pan into a oven dish. i placed my mashed potatoes on top then finished off with my grated cheese and placed it in the oven to bake.

What I think I did well was put the cheese in the mashed potatoes. What I think I can do better next time is not put tomatoes in the pie because it tasted sour.

On Wednesday the year 7&8s went to Moerewa school for Technology. This week the year 7s made macaroni and cheese and the year 8s were finishing off their projects, this time I was by myself. First I had to chop up all of my food like my tomato, bacon, spinach and other things. Next I had to put my macaroni on. When the macaroni was finished cooking I made the cheese sauce. First I put half a cup of butter in the pot next I put 2 ½ cups of milk in. When it finished melting I put the cheese in. Next I got to decorate the macaroni and cheese . First I put on the cheese, then the bacon, onions, tomato and the rest of the things. Next I got to put the macaroni and cheese in the oven. At last it was ready It tasted nice and crispy just how I wanted it.

What I think I did well was putting the bacon in the cheese sauce and what I can do better next time is not use the tomato because it tasted funny.

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

On Wednesday the year 7&8’s went to Technology at Moerewa School. This term the year 7’s had cooking with Whaea Dot and the year 8’s had woodwork with Mr E. The year 7’s made pizza and the year 8’s made anything out of wood. In cooking we had to get in to groups of two, I was with Mihi. My job was to chop all of our food and Mihi’s job was making our dough. When we finish doing our jobs it was time to decorate our dough. But first we had to put the dough in the tray and shape it like a pizza then we can decorate it with colourful veggies. The first thing we put on the pizza was tomato sauce then we put tomatoes, capsacan, pineapple, garlic and other things. Finally the pizza was ready. What I think I can do better next time is make the pizza better by spreading thing out and using other thing. and what I think we done good was put the chess on top of the pizza.
